Technical Equipment

You can borrow notebooks, iPads, calculators and much more free of charge. On this page you will find an overview of the devices, rental conditions and reservation options.

  • Starting May 13, we'll be launching not only a new library system, but also a new library catalogue. You can now order, reserve, and borrow books again using the self-service machines. The library system controls our internal processes and primarily means major changes for our staff. However, you'll also benefit from some new features that offer you greater convenience and flexibility when using the library:

    • modern online catalogue (OPAC) with a new layout, integrated interlibrary loan, and new features
    • user account with a new login
    • Simplified and improved borrowing policies

Courses on the new library catalogue of OTH Regensburg

To familiarize you with the new interface, functions, and filtering options of the new library catalogue, we will be offering in-person and online introductions starting May 27, 2025. You can register now viaWebUntis.

    Library account with new login

Please note the changes for your respective user group:

OTH members: OTH ID + password

All those who study or work at OTH Regensburg will automatically receive a library account, which you can log in to directly using your OTH ID (abc12345). We have migrated existing library accounts. You can find your previous requests and loans in your new account in the library catalogue.

Non-OTH members: Library number + new password

Little will change for you: We have migrated existing library accounts. External library users, e.g., members of the University of Regensburg, students, etc., should continue to log in using the 11-digit user number on their library card and their personal password. However, your old password will no longer work. You will need to create a new one. Please use the "Forgot password" function to do so.

    New Loan Policies

We also used the system migration to simplify and improve our loan policies.

    Simplified Loan Periods

Previously, there were different loan periods of 1 day, 1 week, 2 weeks, 4 weeks, or 3 months. This was often confusing. Now everything is simpler:

    • All media can be borrowed for either 1 day or 4 weeks.
    • Laptops and notebooks can still be borrowed for 3 months.
    • Short-term loans (1 day) can be extended to up to 7 days by arrangement – giving you more planning security.

    More Flexible Short-Term Loans

The previous weekend loan period is no longer applicable – instead, media can now be borrowed every day for 1 to 7 days. This means more flexibility and better planning for research and coursework.

    Automatic Renewals – Less Hassle!

Previously, there were two renewals: one automatic and one that you initiated yourself. Now it's even easier:

    • After the initial loan period, there are four automatic renewals – each for a further four weeks.
    • If a reservation has been placed, no further renewals can be made, but the existing loan period remains.

    What does this mean?
Less administrative work, no more manual renewals, and still a maximum loan period of up to 20 weeks!

Please return borrowed items on time!

Don't forget to return borrowed items on time – ideally before the due date. The library benefits from overdue fines, but only creates additional work. Returning items on time helps everyone, so that items are quickly available to others again.

We hope these changes make studying, working, and researching easier. We wish you success and enjoy the new, more flexible regulations!

We are happy to help you with any questions you may have about the new library catalogue, your library account, and your new login. • Earlier volumes can be found in the open stacks.

  • You can place a reservation on a book that is already on loan, in the library catalogue of OTH Regensburg. Conversely, other library users can also place a reservation on the books you have borrowed. That means, no further extension can be made, but the already active period remains.

  • After the initial loan period of four weeks, there are four automatic extensions – each for further four weeks.

    • Newspapers cannot be borrowed.
    • The previous weekend lending period has been eliminated - instead, media can now be borrowed every day for periods of one to seven days.

Please check your user account in the catalogue on a regular basis to avoid costly reminders. There you can find all information concerning your due dates.

  • Our return counter is located on the left hand side of the main entrance to the central library, in the passageway to the cafeteria. With our Self Check system, you can return your books on your own - even outside the opening hours of the library.
